Allison Katayama, MA

Birth Doula
Childbirth Educator

Allison has recently completed her birth doula training with DONA in Santa Rosa, CA. She is just getting started, but is beyond excited to meet new families and provide excellent experiences for them. As a trained teacher, she loves educating expectant parents about pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenthood.

When Allison got pregnant with her daughter in late 2019, she thought she knew what to expect from the pregnancy/childbirth experience. The pandemic taught her otherwise. She can empathize with parents giving birth during this trying time. She strongly believes that everyone deserves support during their birth. It is her passion to help birthing people and their partners feel prepared and informed for this momentous occasion in their lives!

She is the proud mama of her daughter, Finley, who was born in August 2020. She is knowledgeable in breastfeeding/chestfeeding as she breastfed Finley for over a year. In her spare time, Allison loves to hang out with her family and practice yoga.

Client Testimonials

I am so grateful we hired Doula Allison! We decided to have a doula because I wanted someone at the birth who knew me and my husband and understood our preferences. Doula Allison was able to provide that familiarity and so much more. We initially chose her because I felt like she really listened to us. She was supportive of our decisions and was able to provide insights when we had questions. Throughout the pregnancy, she was very present for us and made adjustments based on our individual needs and requests. Throughout labor, Doula Allison was prompt and responsive to our needs. She gently walked me through breathing strategies, encouraged different positions, and provided reassurance and guidance to my husband. During and after the birth, Doula Allison provided so many comfort measures that made the birth experience enjoyable. Even though we had some challenges during the pregnancy, we had a really positive experience and much of that is because of Doula Allison. She is an extremely kind and supportive person who is passionate about her work. She was present for us throughout the whole process. I am eternally grateful she was a part of our team, and she will forever be a part of our family.

It's clear that Allison has a passion for supporting people through the magical, tricky, complex, and often challenging process of pregnancy and birth. Allie acted as my co-pilot through the journey. She is a skilled advisor, confidante, and listener. One of the things I liked best was her vast amount of knowledge that she expertly passes out so it's never overwhelming. She's also immensely supportive and empathetic to empowering birthing folks and couples in making their decisions. while being close at hand to answer any questions. She made me feel confident that no question or concern was too small, and no feeling too big. I highly recommend Allie.
