New Parent Educator
Erica prides herself on focusing on the whole family in addition to helping new parents navigate how to care for their newborn. She has a calm and caring approach to supporting families. Her years of experience as a nanny, before she became a doula, has helped her coach many parents as they adjust into their new roles.
Erica likes to focus on finding ways to establish healthy feeding and sleeping habits for your newborn. She understands that each family is different and wants to help individualize your approach in a way that best suits your family. She also loves to pamper the new parents by fixing healthy snacks and caring for you while you recover from your birth. She has additional training in how to support the recovery after a cesarean birth and other postpartum complications.
Erica is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina and feels It changed the trajectory of her life. She devoted much of her time to helping others across the globe who'd lost their homes. She has served doing important missionary work, visiting Haiti and Greece, helping refugees who also had been hit by natural disasters. In her free time, Erica enjoys reading, traveling, spending time growing spiritually, advocating for BLM, and playing with her fur baby.

We are so happy that we chose to work with Erica at Golden Gate Doula Associates to care for our newborn daughter during the first few weeks of her life. We are first-time parents and it is such a crazy and overwhelming time -- it is so important to be able to fully trust anyone who is caring for your new baby. Erica was extremely calm, patient, and loving with our daughter, who was just 3 or 4 days old when Erica first started taking care of her.
Erica was also a great support for me as a new mother. She had so many great suggestions for baby and mama products, support groups through GGDA, etc. She also guided both me and my husband in the essentials of newborn care and is particularly gifted at calming young babies. She showed us some amazing moves that we continued to use to comfort our baby months after we finished with Erica. She is also an incredible cook and made us a special meal at the end of our time with her.
Thank you Erica and GGDA for all your help!

I worked with Erica at Golden Gate Doulas and could not recommend her highly enough as a postpartum doula. The first weeks as a new parent are so overwhelming - you're sleep deprived, you're anxious, you're emotional, you're healing. Erica played such a huge role in helping me get through and begin to thrive in those early weeks. I expected a postpartum doula to help me get a little sleep, but what Erica provided was so much more than that. I learned so much from Erica those early weeks- she was there to help me figure out baby wearing wraps, help me with new techniques to calm my fussy baby, answer questions about burping and spit up, she even came over pre-birth to help make sure my changing table was properly stocked! The list goes on and on. So much practical advice that I could never get from a book. On top of that, through Golden Gate Doulas, I was able to have access to intimate zoom sessions with lactation consultants and other experts. Additionally, Erica just helped me get through those early days helping both with my daughter so I could take some naps or even just some time to myself to recharge, and also stepping in to help with things around the house that otherwise would have piled up - folding clothes, washing dishes, even prepping a great meal! With my husband going back to work after just one week, having Erica there with me was such a huge help and relief! Erica is such a wonderful, caring person. Anyone would be so lucky to work with her! Thank you Erica!!

Erica was a life saver in the first couple of weeks after our baby was born. She took great care of our newborn baby which allowed us to catch up on some sleep. Erica also helped me with breastfeeding, spontaneously cooked meals and helped us with light housework. Erica was very knowledgeable about newborn care and postpartum support, giving us great tips, which we really appreciated (and needed!) as first time parents. Erica was also available by text and provided thoughtful answers to many questions. We wholeheartedly recommend her, and Golden Gate Doula.
