Kristin Loe

Birth Doula

Hi, welcome! I am a birth doula in San Francisco who provides inclusive, empowering, non-judgmental support to birthing families in the City. This means that all people, all family dynamics, and all desired birth experiences are welcomed here, including hospital, homebirth, birth center, vaginal medicated or unmedicated, and planned cesarean births. Regardless of how it's "done," I believe pregnancy, birth and the entrance into parenthood to be a holistic journey and sacred rite of passage that transforms a birther physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually; therefore, all aspects of the experience should be equally prioritized by the birther's team, not just to help ensure the birther's wellbeing on every level, but to also witness and hold space for their expansion into a new way of Being.

I honor the body's wisdom and birther's intuition, but recognize that our modern day way of life has disconnected us from both. My intention is to help guide the birther back to their innate wisdom and inner knowing by prenatally addressing fears and limiting beliefs, introducing new perspectives and possibilities, and offering opportunities for deeper connection and awareness; while, as the family's labor support provider, remaining a consistent source of peace, serenity, and confidence in the birth space. I also believe in the power of education and informed consent and help birthers and their partners understand what to expect in the labor process, realize their options and, overall, help them navigate the vast world of birth, whether it be choosing a birth location that is aligned with their values and visions, identifying preferences for labor, or going through induction.

My passion for this work stemmed from a calling to be of service to womxn and children, a calling that I felt brewing deep within me for years while working in Big Law. I finally answered the call in 2019, when I was introduced to birth work during a Pelvic Floor Yoga workshop at Esalen in Big Sur, CA. The more I learned about the sacred wisdom of the womb, the more I realized how little I knew, how little I was taught, and how little I was encouraged to understand my own physical and energetic body, let alone connect to it and trust it. Furthermore, the more I learned about birth, the more I was awakened to the noise of the mainstream narrative, which oftentimes incites fear, pain and powerlessness among intrinsically powerful humans -- those who bring souls into physical form. I'm here to help shift the perspective, reframe the narrative, and invite love and joy to lead the experience.

Client Testimonilas

From the first time we met and interviewed with Doula Kristin, it was obvious that she was prepared and knowledgeable. Her communication skills were great. We appreciated her ability to articulate a large amount of information during the initial meetings and then, during the labor at home process, she had a calm, confident, soothing, and reassuring manner. We were also thankful for how promptly she responded to all of our inquiries and how quickly she was able to come to our house and meet us at the hospital. Once at the hospital she was able to predict Lani's needs and help her cope / provide comfort with various measures. Kristin's doula bag full of tricks and goodies was incredibly useful and she was able to balance that fine line of being helpful and available without being intrusive. We were fairly nervous about the whole birthing process but ended up assured with her advice and direction.

We loved having Kristin as our doula!  This was our first baby and it made all the difference having Kristin's support as we navigated having a "natural" birth in a hospital setting. Kristin is kind, nurturing and knowledgeable ... she helped us think through some tough decisions, e.g. whether to induce and when and provided both the practical and emotional support we needed during this exciting chapter of our lives. We loved every minute of our birth experience, even the tough parts and are grateful to Kristin for guiding us through it all :)  Thank you Kristin!

Kristin was wonderful to work with. She paid careful attention to what we were saying and really customized what she spoke to and what I needed. I appreciated that she gave me ways to reduce my stress and loved the affirmations she sent to me. Pregnancy is a wonderful journey but was made more stressful during the pandemic but Kirstin's support made all the difference despite her not being able to be present at the delivery. My partner also felt like because of Kristin's help he had the tools to better support me and felt prepared for what was coming.
